A very "October" October.

If you know me at all...you know that I am a huge October advocate. Everything about the month is perfect from food to weather to activities to the clothing! This is the last hurrah before Chicago turns into the frozen tundra. I'm not kidding and I hear we are in for a doozy this year.

What better way to take a break from fashion then to recap what an awesome month our little family had! It kicked off with hayrides and pumpkin farms...

Our favorite patch is a 20-minute ride from the house - Didier Farms. Yummy food, kiddie rides, animal petting zoos and pumpkin picking...it's perfect for Olivia and Lola. They optimize the entire park. Including Dad's hayride snuggles.

It's also a fabulous spot for Fall photos!

Tip: It's open until 6pm on the weekends. Beat the crowds and go at 4pm. Every ride will be open and you'll never have to wait. It's also way easier to snag cute family photos without a gazillion people milling around. Two hours is all you need before you begin to crave a cocktail.

I had to sneak in this shot of Olivia because she was such a fashionista this day. Just a typical day in her suede, ankle booties and mini skirt. No bigs. I love that she still allows me to dress her. <more pictures in this slide show recapping our school party!>

Fast forward to double the trouble! Two days of trick or treatin'! We start near my MIL's house on Sunday and finish near our home on the actual day of Halloween. The best part about trick or treating early is doing it with your cousins...obviously! The second best thing is 60 degree weather!

My girls are finally at an age where they "get" trick or treating and see it as a giant challenge. I overheard Lola get Starburst last night and exclaim, "Yessssssss!" Spoken like a true kid. It was so fun to which them sprinting from one yard to the next debating what they were gonna get and if the family was home. To say they were whooped would be an understatement. <iPhone video capture below>

It wasn't a spooky October but it was a blast. We spent more time as a family zipping to patches and attending parties than ever before. So before we nestle into cornucopias and turkey, I'm going to revel for one more day in orange and black.

Hope your Halloween was just as sugar filled as ours!
