Did you know that October is Fair Trade Month? Yup, it's quickly becoming one of the top causes on my philanthropy list. October is a month to celebrate the farmers and workers who produce the products we indulge in everyday -- that sweet treat, that cup of coffee -- all of it benefits diverse communities all over the world.
I was sent the "Box Full of Hope" package to help spread the word about fair trade and spread the word I shall!
Fair Trade helps:
- moms in Rwanda buy their kids shoes so that they can attend school.
- give expectant mothers in Ecuador safe working conditions and maternity leave.
- give Peruvian families the opportunity to invest in nutrition by learning to grow and cook quinoa.
- small farmers connect with buyers to sell their beloved products more directly sans middelmen

What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is a model to fight poverty in farming communities. The idea is that you purchase the Fair Trade product and the farmer receives a fair share for his or her hard work. This model allows farmers to keep their kids in school, brings medical care and clean water to communities and improve the quality of their products.
