Hotel EMC2
The opportunity to truly relax are few and far between...this applies to all of us, which is why a staycation was in order for my husband's recent birthday. I'd like to say that we do these all the time but the truth is we talk about it all the time. Not a whole lotta action behind those words. It's the thought that counts right?
This year we added some action behind those conversations and booked a room at the new boutique hotel - Hotel EMC2. Adorable, well-appointed, sleek, sexy...those words don't even begin to describe it. It completely exceeded our expectations. The website describes the setting as "brainy and bold" which would be accurate. I love the decor, the staff and all the common areas. It was like being teleported somewhere other than Chicago.
The Albert, pictured above, is their main bar and dining room. And the cuisine and cocktailing is anything but traditional or common. Everything is vibrant and plated perfectly...down to the garnishes on your drink. They serve a killer brunch on Sundays and the room is always populated with locals and tourists. There's a liveliness, a vibe to this room that makes you want to kill time a bit longer...and longer!
Take a peek for yourself!
The hotel boasts some pretty amazing amenities, too complete with a robot concierge for almost every whim you can think of, gorgeous marble bathrooms, plush robes and beds...even the opportunity to play your own custom song list via their throwback sound system located in each room. All the while you know you're in a big city but your stay is greeted by the peaceful, quiet streets of the Gold Coast populated with locals walking their dogs or heading out for a cup of coffee.
It was one of the most calming, restful staycations I've had in a long time. Shoot, I took a nap and it was glorious!
I cannot say enough about this little gem. Fun fact: Hotel EMC2 is part of the Autograph Collection which is owned by Marriott. If this is the new direction they are going, I am absolutely loving it! Let me know if you have questions OR book a room stat. You won't regret it.

Put another pin in the world map! I am talking about all things Dominican Republic as today marks our return from Spring Break only a week ago. Writing this makes me sad because I really don’t know if I’ve experienced island life like this country has to offer. I am a well seasoned Caribbean traveler and I fell in love with this country.
