Back To School Shopping At Woodfield Mall!

Better late than never! How did Wednesday turn into such a crazy day? Oh wait...I know! Back-to-back phone calls since 8am would have something to do with it I presume. Ahhhhhhh!

It’s hard to believe that we’re nearly halfway through the summer, but it's time to talk back-to-school. Olivia and I had a great mommy/daughter date at Woodfield Mall this past weekend to start prepping for KINDERGARTEN. I know...and I am very close to tears so do not mess with this momma.

Sunday, only slightly less ordinary.

"Spectacular" doesn't do our Sunday dinner enough justice as I recollect all the amazing bites we had this past weekend at Sullivan's. If you haven't tried your hand at this amazingly, refined steakhouse...you're missing out!

Sunday marked our second occasion and previously scheduled date day but....surprise!...our sitter cancelled due to a stomach bug. I seriously contemplated canceling our reservation but thought better. Why not bring the kids along and teach them what refined dining is really like? Let's expand those tiny taste buds beyond burgers and hot dogs, shall we?

Shop Woodfield Mall for Mother's Day!

One of my favorite things about Mother's Day is shopping for it! It's a rare moment that I am sans children and can take my time perusing different stores without the pressure of finding a bathroom, a snack or having someone complain about walking too far. Yes folks, the struggle is real. Toddler life is HARD!

This week was a different story. I had the opportunity to spend three glorious hours all to myself and it was AMAZING. I grew up shopping at Woodfield Mall which has more stores than you could humanly visit in three hours but that's beside the point. It was uninterrupted shopping which is a gift in and of itself! I visited stores that I had never even heard og which was slightly distracting as the task at hand was: find mom a gift for Sunday. Oops!

STAY: A new series + why you need to check out The Pfister Hotel.

I'm excited to launch a new series here on 101 things i love. STAY is a series dedicated to discovering your own backyard...the ultimate staycation experience, if you will. The idea came to fruition after countless nights of my husband and I sitting with laptops on our laps and furrowed brows wondering when our next opportunity would be to truly disconnect. Hence, the quick STAYcation was born with the opportunity to scoop the girls up and drive somewhere just to indulge in spa robes, hotel pools and copious happy hours...and plenty of cocktail peanuts.

Sofitel...Mother's Day style.

It's almost here. That one day a year where us mothers get the luxury of a blissful manicure/pedicure all to ourselves...1.5 hours of heaven. Sound right? That's my usual gift which I happily accept each year because it just never gets old. 1.5 hours of no one asking for a snack, help in the potty or asking for a change of clothes because they spilled bubbles on the 4th outfit of the day. Not that I'm complaining...

Birthday Masters.

I'm sitting here in full mom-panic-mode. Olivia is turning 5 in May and I have done zilch in terms of planning this birthday. I mean zero. (don't tell her!) As a busy mom, I was pretty proud of myself for getting the evite out. Yeah, that's because for the last five years I've been handwriting and co-designing these gorgeous birthday invitations only for them to end up in someone's trash weeks later. So, we opted to put those dollars towards the party itself. Smart!
